Members of the Sri Venkateswara (S.V.) Temple in Penn Hills partnered with the Pittsburgh Community Food Bank Saturday to donate perishable boxes of food in Wilkinsburg. The effort surrounds a special Hindu ritual that dates back to 1500 B.C. and happens just once every 12 years.”We are celebrating a special religious ritual in the temple called Maha Kumbhabhishekam, which is done every 12 years. This is an opportunity for us to do the repairs of the temple and re-energize and homogenize the energies in the temple and around the temple,” said pastor chairman Nangali Srinivasa.There were 500 shares of food distributed at the food drive, which equates to 30,000 pounds.
