LATROBE (KDKA) – A restaurant in Latrobe helps those in need and brings the community together.

Sharky’s Cafe made 300 meals for the Salvation Army and Latrobe’s “Backpack For Kids” program.

The restaurant says they have tried to help since the pandemic started by delivering items like hand sanitizer, paper towels and vegetables via the roadside pickup.

“My husband and I sat down and we said you know this was not a great year for restaurants, but we still have food on the table and a roof over our heads,” said Jamie Huemme of the restaurant. “We know that many families in the church weren’t that happy, so we just wanted to give something back to the church.”

All donations came from the community and Sharky’s made them for meals.

Sharky’s said that thanks to all donations, they have prepared a total of 600 meals in the past two weeks.
