Fire shot out of the windows and black smoke rose in the air. At least two employees of the South Side Chamber of Commerce, located on the first floor, escaped the flames unharmed. Chamber President Mark Bucklaw spoke to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 on location. “We are really grateful that our staff are fine and safe,” said Bucklaw. “It’s really sad to lose this place and lose the building.” On Monday evening, the firefighters examined the damage that had occurred after the four-alarm fire and the collapse of the building. Despite the damage and debris, no injuries were reported. Perrone works in J Master’s barbershop, which is normally closed on Mondays but has stood upright after the fire and the building collapsed. Pittsburgh public safety officials said they expect the other side to collapse. Perrone said he was just glad everyone was safe said. In a tweet, the American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania said the Allegheny County Disaster Action Team was on hand to provide support and assistance to residents affected by the fire.
