Some companies within the Pittsburgh space proceed to require masks underneath the brand new tips from CDC – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Some small business owners don’t say as quickly while others celebrate as they drop the mask.

Meghan Schiller from KDKA spoke to fitness studios, grocery stores and salons about the upcoming decision: to mask or not to mask?

The sweat and endorphins went into high gear on Friday.

“I finally feel like we can get back on my feet as a personal trainer,” said Jordan Rose, SAID F45 studio manager.

Rose saw his athletes’ faces exposed for the first time in months. This is all thanks to the CDC’s new guidelines, announced Thursday, that fully vaccinated people can take off the mask in most scenarios.

“Everyone is excited,” said Rose. “People are so excited.”

In the inner city of the Twelve27 Salon, the sign on the front door shows a different reaction.

“I would say 95 percent of people really supported us and are grateful that we choose to stay masked,” said Hilary Vallard, co-owner of Twelve27 Salon.

Co-owners Hillary and Veronica Vallard called on Friday for the safety of their 15 employees and customers.

“As for the determination of vaccinations or not, there really is no real way of determining it, is there? So we just have to play it safe, ”said Veronica Vallard.

“We joke that we put our flag in the safety sand when this started. We therefore believe that we need to stay in tune with new guidelines, ”said Hilary Vallard.

And they’re not the only ones taking it slow. Wendell Young, president of UFCW Local 1776, began working on the phones, advocating for his most important employees as well as employees of the local giant eagles.

“The CEO, I and we both agree that as employers you will continue to need masks from employees and customers for the next 30 days,” said Young.

But who is really vaccinated and who is lying seems to be the big guessing game. Bars and restaurants have become the unsolicited gamblers.

Carmella Salem, the owner of Carmella’s Plates & Pints, told KDKA: “I don’t feel like I have the right to say, ‘Let me look at your vaccination card. ‘ Not me.”

Restaurant owners and employees informed KDKA that there are no government guidelines for implementing the new mandate. Some fear that more than just the food will be heated this weekend and decide to plan the mask discussion for now.

Matt McClelland, the head chef at Carmella’s Plates & Pints, said, “It could lead to a lot of confrontation for people.”
