PITTSBURGH (AP) – The son of Mister Rogers ‘delivery man, who is now a real postman, made a brief appearance this week on an episode of a children’s show based on one of Mister Rogers’ dolls.
Alex Newell, 39, is the son of David Newell, who played Mr. McFeely in “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood”. Alex Newell made a cameo on “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood,” reported the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
In the Wednesday episode, Newell appears as the postman making sure a little girl’s care package has been delivered to a friend, according to the newspaper.
David Newell said Rogers was the first person to visit him at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital after giving birth to his three children, including Alex.
“Alex grew up in a way in the neighborhood of Mister Rogers, real and fake,” said his father. “He watched it as a kid and now he’s doing a show on (‘Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood’). And that makes me so proud. “
