The Steelers and local authorities are investigating after someone distributed ashes during the Sunday afternoon game in Heinz Field. The ashes were reportedly distributed in the southern end zone. A Steelers spokesman said they want fans to know that handing out ashes is not allowed at Heinz Field. Read the full statement from Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten below: “An incident occurred during the game at Heinz Field on Sunday in which a fan was distributing the ashes of a deceased family member in the stadium. Heinz Field Management does not allow or condone such actions We respect fans who may be interested in honoring a family member by distributing their family’s ashes around the stadium. Heinz Field is unable to accommodate these requests due to state and local regulations.
