Steelers’ inactive roster is made up of gamers who had been left behind in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Steelers released their inactive for their week 17 game against the Cleveland Browns. With three players on the Reserve / COVID-19 list on Saturday and four raises from the training team, the Steelers have an inactive list of 6 players, none of whom have traveled to Cleveland with the team. Two players are injured while the other four are just resting.

Kicker Chris Boswell missed his second game in a row and his third game in five weeks with a groin injury. Despite head coach Mike Tomlin claiming it was a different injury from Week 13, Boswell was ruled out after missing two practice sessions after returning last Wednesday. While Steelers fans are confident that Boswell will do well in the postseason, Matthew Wright will take on the kicking duties against the Browns.

Safety Terrell Edmunds missed the first game of his NFL career with a shoulder injury. Edmunds missed every practice session over the past week and was never mentioned on Sunday or Tuesday by Mike Tomlin as a player involved in anything after beating the Colts in Steelers Week 16. Hopefully Edmund’s injury is a precautionary measure and he can get back to the Steelers Wild Card Matchup in time.

Everyone else on the inactive list for Steelers are healthy scratches being rested in preparation for a postseason run. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was disfellowshipped on Friday after coach Tomlin announced on Tuesday that he would get the week off. It was announced on Saturday that linebacker TJ Watt, defenseman Cameron Heyward and center Maurkice Pouncey will not sit out due to injury in week 17 as they have not started the trip to Cleveland with the team.

With Roethlisberger, Heyward, Watt and Pouncey all inactive, Jordan Dangerfield is the only captain left for the Steelers in week 17.

The Browns Inactive are shown below courtesy of ESPN’s Jake Trotter. After being questionable on Friday, security guard Wyatt Teller is active despite being believed to be missing the final three games of the season. With the Browns not having a playoff birth last week and with Chris Hubbard and Nick Harris injured, Teller has no chance to rest his injured ankle.
