WASHINGTON (KDKA) – Pennsylvania Congressman Mike Doyle is co-sponsoring impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump over the riots that broke out in the country’s capital on Wednesday.

I participated in impeachment proceedings against @realDonaldTrump. He showed yesterday that every day he is president he will try to overturn the elections and undermine our democracy. He must be removed from office immediately.

Doyle announced a few hours earlier that he supported the 25th amendment being made against President Trump to remove him from office. Several other senior lawmakers, including Senator Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, urged Vice President Mike Pence and the President’s Cabinet to use the 25th amendment. Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey also supports appeal on the 25th amendment against Trump.

Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar announced on Wednesday that she intended to draft new impeachment proceedings against President Trump, and on Thursday revealed the articles and a growing list of co-sponsors.

Calls for the 25th Amendment, and even for impeachment, come as several lawmakers have blamed President Trump for yesterday’s events.

Doyle represents the 18th District of Pennsylvania in the House of Representatives.
