The Pittsburgh Steelers are operating the enterprise to win the AFC North
The Pittsburgh Steelers are the 2020 AFC North Champions! With the Steelers’ 28:24 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, the Steelers ended the division and forced a meaningless week 17 game against the Cleveland Browns when it comes to AFC North. Even without the Steelers victory, the Browns’ 23:16 defeat against the New York Jets would have also blocked the division. But instead of letting others determine their fate, the Steelers take care of business and end their defeat in three games.
It is the Steelers’ first AFC North championship since 2017. With the Baltimore Ravens winning the division in the last two seasons, one team has yet to win the AFC North in three consecutive seasons since it was founded in 2002. Since then, this has been the ninth championship for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After three straight defeats, trust in the Steelers has waned in their fan base. With a quality win against a 10-win opponent, the Steelers get back on track by completing the division.
With the victory over the Colts, the Steelers can finish no less than the third seed in the AFC. With tiebreakers controlled by both the Titans and Colts, any team that wins the AFC South will be behind Pittsburgh in the standings.
The Kansas City Chiefs reached number one with a win on Sunday. The Steelers are still in the running for the second seed in case the Buffalo Bills stall against the New England Patriots on Monday night. If the Bills held the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Steelers, it would take an additional win for the Steelers to get to number two. Since the bye week only comes to the top from 2020, the difference between the second and third seeds only affects the matchups in the first round and the home team in the divisional round.
