ARLINGTON, Va., May 11, 2021 / PRNewswire / – The Stand Together Foundation announced today that 12 new nonprofit partners are joining their Catalyst program, a management and leadership development experience designed to help top performing organizations become more effective and help the country find a better way to become To show the fight against poverty. For social entrepreneurs selected for the Catalyst program, the six-month management training course serves as a focal point for a long-term partnership, including management coaching, leadership development, operational support, and access to a community of entrepreneurial peers, influential philanthropists, and business leaders.

The diverse group of incoming nonprofits and their leaders are driving a range of poverty reduction solutions, including trust-based loans for low-income entrepreneurs, training for autistic adults, and neighborhood-level gun violence reduction programs. Below is a full list of the Stand Together Foundation’s newest Catalyst partners:

• Promote peace (Richmond, CA.) – Advance Peace reduces urban gun violence through the use of Neighborhood Change Agents to provide mentoring, conflict resolution, anger management, and other services to those at risk. With its groundbreaking Peacemaker Fellowship, which supports young men involved in deadly gun crimes, Advance Peace proves that the cycle of gun violence can be broken through community-based strategies that offer real alternatives rather than the risk of incarceration.
• Adaptive Training Foundation (Carrollton, TX) – The Adaptive Training Foundation provides athletic training and holistic recovery services to help citizens of different abilities and veterans overcome physical, mental, and external barriers to self-sufficiency. Unlike most programs for the disabled, which are heavily medicated and focused on physical deficits, ATF places an emphasis on the recovery of the whole person in order to build physical skills while also creating space for emotional healing – and potential of all people to increase.
• ECHO (Memphis, TN) – ECHO is building a nationwide network of independent, nonprofit nursing clinics to provide critical health care services to millions of underinsured or uninsured Americans who fall through the cracks of traditional health care systems. ECHO is working with health care providers and faith communities to open clinics that cater to their community’s unique needs by providing free counseling services and best practices to enable them to scale up quickly. ECHO’s strategy shows that community-led health cultures have the potential to improve equity, access and quality of care for the underserved.
• Entrepreneur forever (Pittsburgh, PA) – Entrepreneurs Forever (eforever) organizes small business owners in facilitated peer-to-peer groups operating in communities with unmet needs. Through these groups, entrepreneurs build peer relationships, exchange solutions and create the conditions for long-term success. EForever fulfills an important need for entrepreneurs who are isolated, segregated, and price segregated from incumbent peer-to-peer organizations. EForever’s work has a multiplying effect on the communities it serves by empowering its participants to create wealth and contribute to the economic stability of their neighborhoods.
• JUST (Austin, TX) – JUST builds resilient communities by providing loans to low-income entrepreneurs based on trust. The innovative lending process uses microfinance best practices, peer support groups and coaching to improve repayment and debt management outcomes, rather than traditional measures like credit scores or bank account information. ONLY envisions a world where women and minority entrepreneurs benefit from inclusive community and access to capital rather than relying on predatory credit products.
• The sky is the limit (Oakland, CA.) – Sky’s the Limit takes on the non-financial obstacles – such as professional relationships and skills development – that prevent underrepresented entrepreneurs from reaching their full potential. The team has powerful matchmaking software that matches entrepreneurs with experienced volunteers to help them overcome their barriers. As a result, Sky’s the Limit has built a digital community that creates the conditions for business success.
• Son of a saint (New Orleans, LA) – The Son of a Saint improves the lives of boys growing up without a father through long-term peer-to-peer relationships. Son of a Saint was developed in response to research showing that boys without fathers face higher rates of justice, substance abuse, and dropping out of school. You initiate mentor-mentee relationships in order to positively shape the personal development of boys and to reach their full potential. Rather than a short term fix, Son of a Saint invests in lasting personal relationships to meet each boy’s individual needs.
• Teaching the Autism Community Trades (Denver, CO) – Teaching the Autism Community Trades (TACT) is designed to break the historical patterns of unemployment among those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), one of the highest unemployment groups in the country. Through highly customized training and employer partnerships, TACT offers adults with autism the opportunity to capitalize on their unique talents and work in craft professions where they can thrive. TACT writes a new story: All people are capable of extraordinary things.
• The Confess Project (Little Rock, AR) – The Confess Project (TCP) reduces the mental health stigma of black men and boys by turning barber shops into safe spaces for open and vulnerable conversation. The program harnesses the respect and trust hairdressers already have in black communities and trains them in active listening, stigma, validation, and positive communication strategies to become mental health advocates. TCP’s community-based strategy is to restore health authority to individuals and communities, rather than relying on traditional medical systems that have been neglected for black men in terms of mental health.
• The root cause (Dallas, TX) – The Root Cause supports people with chronic and preventable diseases who face social and financial difficulties by providing direct access to the “interim care” they need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. In an expensive healthcare industry that often forces patients in marginalized communities to make difficult compromises with their health, The Root Cause takes an alternative route. It recruits and trains trusted community health workers to live alongside those they serve. This improves individual outcomes and creates employment opportunities for the community.

• Veteran Alternative (Vacation, FL) – Veterans Alternative offers a people-centered approach to mental health that enables veterans to successfully return to civilian life and become healthier, more connected, and more resilient. Veterans Alternative provides alternative therapies to combat veterans and their families that are traditionally not available through the Department of Veterans Affairs, and uses evidence- and community-based strategies to heal the hidden wounds of war.
