Travis Etienne, Najee Harris on Franco Harris’s Pittsburgh Checklist

With the 2021 NFL Draft almost here, teams are likely already in the final stages of preparation when it comes to the players they’ll pick with their picks. The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of those teams as they are armed with the 24th overall win in the first round.

While it remains unclear which player the Steelers will pick with the election, former full-back Franco Harris already has some offensive players in mind.

Franco Harris: “We don’t hammer in there and let running backs do their thing. We need a running back who can really make a difference. This Harris kid is a tough kid. I think he could really make a difference. Him.” or Travis Etienne of Clemson. “#Steelers

If Harris had their way, the Steelers should invest in a young running back, particularly Alabama’s Najee Harris or Clemson’s Travis Etienne. According to the four-time Super Bowl champion, the team lacks running backs who can “make a difference”. Adding Harris or Etienne to a Steelers offense would meet that need.

Harris, 23, has had a tough senior season for the Crimson Tide, ending with 256 transfers, 1,466 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns while helping Alabama with the National Championship. Not to be outdone, Etienne made a mark for the Tigers in his senior season as well, as he had 168 carry, 914 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.

As Harris said, both players are talented and could potentially make a difference for the Steelers. Pittsburgh has had a 2020 season winning their first eleven games of the season before ending on a 4-4 record and losing to the Cleveland Browns in the wild card round (48-37). While it’s unclear whether Harris or Etienne will end up wearing a Steelers uniform, their legendary former player certainly hopes they’ll kick off their first round of voting on a talented turnaround.
