Trib wins 16 Golden Quill Awards, together with a best-of present

The Tribune Review won 16 Golden Quill Awards for journalistic excellence – including a grand prize – at the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania’s Annual Recognition held Tuesday at the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh.

The awards recognize written, visual, broadcast, and online journalism in 2020.

The trib had a total of 50 finalists.

The Trib won the Marie Torre Memorial Award in Video Journalism for its report, “Tragedy at Brighton,” which describes issues related to a massive Covid-19 outbreak at a Beaver County nursing home. The Torre Prize is for the best show in video journalism. It was given for the first time on Tuesday evening.

The award is named after the legendary KDKA TV reporter and news anchor Marie Torre, who died in 1997.

The Press Club honored Paul Martino, retired KDKA television reporter and presenter, and Susan K. McFarland, recently retired editor-in-chief of Trib Total Media, with the President’s Awards.
