Two Allegheny Co. grocery shops added as Approved Distributors for the WIC Program – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Two grocery stores in Allegheny County have been added to the list of authorized vendors for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program.
The Giant Eagle stores along Washington Pike in Bridgeville and Route 8 in Gibsonia are now eligible to accept eWIC-EBT cards for food and infant formula purchases through the program.
The addition of these two stores brings the number of authorized grocery stores for the WIC program in Allegheny County to 81.
The WIC program helps pregnant women, breastfeeding women, postpartum women, and infants and children under five years of age, to provide food and nutritional supplements.
Eligibility for the program is based on income and nutritional risk.
