Vanderbilt ranks 22nd above the University of Notre Dame and is just behind Cornell University 13th.

However, Chris Guthrie, Dean of VULS, expressed concern about the methodology of the US news Leaderboards.

“There are law schools to generate knowledge of the law and the legal system and prepare students for entry into the profession,” Guthrie wrote in one comment Published in Jurimetrics, [a peer-reviewed academic journal], 2019. “The rankings of lawyers should, in turn, evaluate schools for their success in carrying out this two-part mission.”

Guthrie identified three steps that US news it may take time to replace the current ranking system with a mission-based one. Guthrie writes that subjective surveys should be replaced by objective measures with scientific impact. He also claims that the “internship” category, which currently includes the first passage of bars, the internship on graduation, and the internship ten months after graduation, does not accurately represent a law school. Finally, Guthrie believes that measurements like the number of volumes in a law library or the amount of money spent per JD student should not be considered US news Leaderboards.

“I don’t think there is annual fluctuations in the US news Rankings are meaningful, ”Guthrie said in an email to The Hustler.

School of Nursing

“No program is right for every student,” said Norman. “I hope prospective students don’t use rankings to decide where they want to get their education.”
