At PublicSource, we produce independent, ambitious, and impactful local journalism by covering key stories in the Pittsburgh area. Many Pittsburgh stories would not be told without PublicSource.

PublicSource employees and freelance workers are of paramount importance to us as an organization. Our brand of independent, fact-based journalism is only possible because they work hard to seek and tell the truth. At PublicSource we work hard to ensure that our team and operations share the core values ​​of great journalism and the principles of integrity.

We are just as committed to the production of high quality local journalism as we are to treating our employees, freelance workers and interns fairly, professionally and respectfully. If you are interested in working with us or in doing so, this page has all the information you need and what to expect. Here we have tried to formulate our principles to ensure that we adequately support and meet the needs of our employees and co-workers. “Contributor” is an independent contractor providing PublicSource content services including, but not limited to, authors, fact checkers, developers, visual journalists, artists, and audio producers. We value employees and committed employees in all phases of their careers who bring different experiences and perspectives to PublicSource.

Our goal is a team-oriented, fair and supportive work environment. We will not allow harassment or disruptive activities to create a negative culture or work environment. No form of harassment will be tolerated. Everyone who works at and with PublicSource is responsible for behaving professionally and showing respect for others. This policy also applies to all business and related interactions between employees, directors, partners, freelance journalists, and visitors.

PublicSource will not tolerate any form of harassment that violates federal, state, or local laws in the workplace, in PublicSource sponsored social functions, or in business functions. This refers to (but not limited to) harassment based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, citizenship or disability (or any other prohibited ground of discrimination within the meaning of) federal, State or local law).
