PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – As the pandemic drags on, the need in our region is still great and the community is strengthening and helping.

On Saturday, the Minority Veterans of America and the Steelers teamed up to help those in need of a hand.

Not only did they hand out groceries, but the group also distributed pet supplies and personal care products.
“Nationally, veterans make up about 11% of the homeless population, and in Pittsburgh it’s about 33%. So there is a real need here, especially with COVID, and all of this has been really difficult for people, ”said Nathan Porter.

More than £ 5,000 of groceries were handed out to the community at the event on Saturday.
