BAHS Alumni awards 4 scholarships | Life-style
The Bradford Area High School Alumni Association has awarded its annual scholarships of $750 each to four 2021 BAHS graduates.
Awards were presented at the June 10 scholar luncheon at the Bradford Club.
This year’s recipients were Alexandra Asp, Zachary Cole, Emily Bosworth and Sydney Rodgers.
Asp will enroll at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in the fall to study psychology. She graduated with high honors, was named to the National Honor Society, played volleyball for four years and was captain her senior year. In addition, she completed several college level courses in her last two years, volunteered for various community events, participated in the Jazz Ensemble and held two part-time jobs through her high school years, including at the Ecumenical Home and Foster Brook Creamery as a senior.
Cole will pursue a degree in health and physical education in September at Lock Haven University. He was an honor roll student through high school, participated in cross country and football, was a member of the Criminal Justice Club, on the homecoming float project, volunteered for various community events, including Festa Italiana, and held part-time employment during the summer months.
Bosworth plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh main campus and pursue a degree in engineering. She was a high school honor student, participated in the soccer and track programs for four years, completed college level courses in high school and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Rodgers is planning to attend Jamestown Community College in the fall, still undecided on her major. She was on the swim, volleyball and tennis teams during high school.
One of the four 2021 awards has been named to honor the Class of 1959, who donated their remaining funds to the association scholarship program after voting to discontinue their class scholarship effort. A total of 12 classes have been so honored by the association during the past six years.
The Alumni Association awards scholarships each year as well as holding monthly meetings throughout the year and an annual banquet for members and guests in the fall. Membership is open to any person who graduated from, attended or was employed by Bradford High, regardless of year. Nominal dues, as well as donations from members, support the awards program.
