Donations are available after Coraopolis Church posts a name for grain – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Food banks in the Pittsburgh area say they have helped tens of thousands of people every week since the pandemic began – and that puts pressure on supplies.

When the Coraopolis Food Bank found they had no grain this month, they asked their partners at Coraopolis Methodist Church to help them collect 200 boxes to feed local families.

Pastor Dennis Lawton made an appeal on social media shared across the church, including by someone who touched many lives.

“I think especially one retired Cornell teacher who has many connections with many people is possibly one of those people who is a big key because it is more than ever,” Lawton said.

Reverend Lawton says 1,000 boxes of cereal have been donated in the ten days since they asked for help, and more are added every day.
