In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.- CBS Pittsburgh, a number of occasions are held to rejoice

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Today we honor and celebrate the life of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
All Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, and federal offices are closed for the holidays.
Garbage collection in the city of Pittsburgh has been delayed for a day.
Banks and post offices are closed and no mail is delivered.
State liquor stores will remain open.
A number of events are taking place today in the spirit of Dr. King instead.
The Allegheny County Bar Association is hosting its 22nd annual prayer breakfast. It starts at 9:00 a.m. and is broadcast live on the association’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
Several local organizations join forces for food distribution.
Food will be distributed from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Blaqk House Collections on First Avenue.
The United Way partners with the Greater Pittsburgh YWCA and hosts virtual forums for parents.
The first session starts at 9:00 am and focuses on how to talk about races to children.
The second session will start at 11:00 am with an emphasis on using social media as a tool for social change.
The United Way is also hosting its Book Drive for Diversity.
On the organization’s website, you can select books to donate on behalf of the drive.
