Return of the diaper drive on Mother’s Day

In honor of Mother’s Day on May 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., a diaper delivery for baby diapers, diapers for adults and articles for fur babies will be offered

Donated diapers will be handed over to the Western PA Diaper Bank and the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. Pet items benefit Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh

Meeting of the Women’s Business Network

Women’s Business Network is an award-winning business association that supports the success and growth of women in businesses through networking, education and leadership opportunities. Basketball summer camp

After a year off, Fox Chapel’s boys ‘basketball program will hold its annual boys’ basketball summer camp again this year. It will take place in two sessions. The first meeting will take place from June 28th to July 1st. The second session will take place from July 12th to July 15th.

There will be two age groups. The Little Foxes (pre-K through third grade) will be from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, and the Running Foxes (fourth to ninth graders) will be playing from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm.

Virtual conference

Hundreds of women will attend a virtual conference for women on May 14th with keynote speaker Dr. Jennifer Ashton get together. This mother of two is also a board certified Ob-Gyn writer and TV correspondent. She and her longtime friend and Emmy Award-winning journalist Susan Koeppen will show everyone how to feel embraced and empowered at every stage of femininity.

The debut event takes place practically at 12:30 p.m. Single tickets are $ 40.

Mother’s Day weekend concert

The Hillman Performing Arts Series at the Shady Side Academy opens its Mother’s Day weekend 2021 on May 8th at 3 p.m. with the pianist and composer Robin Spielberg. The show takes place at the Richard E. Rauh Theater of the Hillman Center for Performing Arts on the Shady Side Academy Senior School campus, 423 Fox Chapel Road.

Robin Spielberg, one of America’s most popular pianists and composers, has won the hearts of listeners all over the world with her convincing melodies for more than 20 years.

In this Mother’s Day weekend concert, Spielberg will perform music from their extensive repertoire of American melodies and original favorites that focus on love, meaningful reflection and funny stories.

Tickets are $ 25 and can be purchased online at thehillman.org. A limited number of tickets are sold to ensure that the convention limits of Pa. Indoor and socially distant seats are adhered to. Covid-19 security protocols will be in place, with masks required for all guests.

Hoboken’s Mother’s Day weekend plant sale

The Hoboken Presbyterian Church will hold its annual plant sale on May 7th and 8th from 8am to 5pm at the Monument on Freeport Road

Just in time for Mother’s Day, hanging baskets, annual and perennial plants in apartments and in individual pots, vegetable plants and more will be presented.

Adopt-a-Block Program

The Best of Blawnox organization is introducing a new volunteer opportunity, an adoptive program for community members.

Adopt-a-Block is a volunteer program that aims to keep the streets of Blawnox free of trash and debris. Volunteers are assigned one (or more) designated neighborhood blocks to clean up regularly.

Distribution of the food boxes

Fox Families Care is partnering with Farmers to Families to provide free boxes of fresh groceries.

The boxes are available to all families eligible for the FCASD Free / Reduced Lunch Program or any family in the school district who is experiencing financial difficulties.

The boxes will be distributed on the second and fourth Thursday of the month from 4pm to 6pm until May 27th.

Pick-up is from Kennedy Park in Sharpsburg or Emmerling Park in Indiana Township.

Lettuce grows together

The Carnegie Science Center works with North Hills Community Outreach to broadcast Facebook Live events that explore the science behind gardening and healthy eating.

The next virtual event, Apiaries and Bees, will take place on May 9th at 11am. It will be hosted on the Carnegie Science Center’s Facebook page and will be available on the Science Center’s YouTube channel after it has been livestreamed.

Participants will take a virtual tour of the North Hills Community Outreach apiary and learn about the relationship between bees and plants.

Meditation sessions

The Pittsburgh Buddhist Center offers weekly online meditation sessions on Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The series is designed for beginners. The guide is a Buddhist monk. No registration is required.
