Kiya Tomlin creates a vogue assortment for Macy’s Ross Park Mall

“I’m a mall shopper, a department store shopper,” said Tomlin, a Pittsburgh fashion designer, on Wednesday. “If you wanted something nice, you went to Macy’s. To be able to design for Macy’s client … I am honored. “

Tomlin worked with Macy’s Ross Park Mall on a Spring Capsule Collection for Macy’s. It has eight interchangeable pieces – four tops, a skirt, pants, a dress, and an outer layer she calls a mini duster – inspired by her busy lifestyle as the wife of Mike Tomlin, head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers and mother of three .

Clothing details include draped fabric and color blocking in neutral tones.

It is only available from the Ross Park Mall Store. The line starts on April 10th. Tomlin will be in store for the debut.

Her passion for fashion began in the family basement, garage and attic. They moved into a studio together and opened their own – both in East Liberty. She moved her company, where she designs, manufactures and sells her collections, to Mount Etna in 2018.

She has nearly two decades of experience designing custom clothing, from ready-made clothing to couture design. Everything is made on site in their Etna store.

Tomlin teased the upcoming announcement on social media.

We kept a secret from you. We’ve been working on it for more than a year and had to put it on hold in 2020. But now is the time! We partner with Macy’s Ross Park! #kiyatomlinbrand #confidence #styleinfluencer #femaledesigner

The idea to work together came when Tom Wallace, district vice president of Macy’s, and his wife Nikki Wallace were attending a Steelers fashion show. Tomlin creates a collection for the players’ wives and girlfriends. Macy’s supplies suit the boys.

Nikki Wallace asked her husband why Tomlin’s fashion wasn’t sold at Macy’s.

“Macy’s is thrilled to offer this exclusive collection from Kiya Tomlin,” said Tom Wallace. “We are honored to be working with such a prominent local designer to bring to life this collection of capsules specially designed for our Pittsburgh customers.”

According to Macy’s, the partnership is the first of its kind in the Pittsburgh area.

“Ross Park Mall is a great place,” said Tomlin.

Tomlin said Macy’s makes an effort to get people into the store by hosting cool events and opportunities like this one.

Prices range from $ 90 to $ 155.

“I design for women on the go,” said Tomlin. “They want flexibility and they definitely want comfort and style.”
