PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Levin Furniture celebrates the reopening of two stores in the Pittsburgh area.

The stores at Pointe in North Fayette and McMurray reopened on Wednesday.

When Robert Levin retired in 2017, he sold his family businesses to a company that then went bankrupt. But instead of seeing that his stores were closed and former employees were unemployed, he stepped in and brought the stores back.

Levin says the reopening is a big step forward.

“We’re open again and back in the neighborhood and we can serve our customers from past and new customers, including people coming into the community,” said Levin.

Levin said the opportunity also enabled the company to hire hundreds of former salespeople, many of whom were unemployed at the height of the pandemic.
