PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A proposal to ban plastic bags in Pittsburgh is unveiled today.
City councilor Erika Strassburger wants to regulate the disposable plastic bags from grocery stores or take-away food.
Eight states, including New York, Maine and California, have already banned the plastic bags.
Environmental group Re-Use This Bag says that a plastic bag is used for an average of 12 minutes before it’s thrown away, and says the bag is never biodegradable.
