Pennsylvania Liquor Management Enforcement raids SAVOY Restaurant within the Strip District of Pittsburgh
The owner of the SAVOY restaurant in the Pittsburgh Strip District told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 that “minor violations” resulted in Pennsylvania Liquor Control Enforcement officers raiding his business Friday night. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 reached out to the LCB on Friday for more information about the raid and has not yet received a response. “They come down, they take all my booze the night before you know the biggest Christmas party when everything is about to defuse,” said owner Charles Sanders. “It’s just funny to me that they would come down. It has nothing to do with COVID at all. This is about the state license for spirits. You know you’re basically trying to take our business away. “The restaurant’s liquor license is currently listed online as“ custody, ”which means it has ceased operations under the license. Sanders said law enforcement officers claim he was selling liquor when he shouldn’t have been selling them. He denies the claim. The police brought several boxes filled with alcohol from the building in trucks on Friday evening. The scene raised eyebrows for the owner of a nearby restaurant, Preeti’s Pitt. Preeti Tulli said some of her staff were on break when they saw the police show up. “I got out and I looked down the street and I saw it,” she said. “I went back in and have nothing like that to do with us. Let’s just come back, we had orders. We had food orders so let’s just cook again. “Allegheny County’s Health Department closed the SAVOY restaurant twice this year for violating COVID-19.
