The New York Yankees continue to fill with pitchers eager to get back on their feet after injuries. The Yankees acquired right-handed Jameson Taillon from the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and several other reporters.

The Pirates and Yankees made the deal official on Sunday afternoon, announcing that the Yankees would send four prospects to Pittsburgh in exchange for Taillon: RHP Miguel Yajure, RHP Roansy Contreras, INF Maikol Escotto and OF Canaan Smith.
Taillon was operated on by Tommy John in 2019
29-year-old Taillon is a former first round player who has spent his entire career with the Pirates. He debuted in 2016 and has a 3.67 ERA over 82 starts. However, none of these launches have occurred in the past 18 months. Taillon hasn’t made a single inning since May 2019 when he landed on the injured list with a flexion load in his right arm. After a few months trying to rehabilitate this injury, Taillon had to undergo surgery from Tommy John that forced him to miss the entire 2020 season.

Just over a week before taking on Taillon, the Yankees reportedly signed Corey Kluber, another pitcher who missed a significant time due to injury. Kluber pitched fewer than 40 innings over seven starts for the Cleveland Indians in 2019 due to a broken right arm and possibly tight stomach. He was sold to the Texas Rangers prior to the 2020 season but only threw one inning due to another arm injury.

Taillon shares goodbye message
Taillon spoke to Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic on Sunday to share his parting words with pirate fans and posted a short message on his Twitter account.
Pirates traded Jameson Taillon for Yankees. “It’s emotional to me. I was the last man in that drafting class in 2010. This organization became family. Super excited to be going to Yankees, but it’s still difficult.”

The Pirates had a busy off-season trading some of their major league talents for potential customers. Your wage bill has now dropped to an absolutely shocking $ 43 million, and the off-season isn’t over yet. They are supposedly being rebuilt, but with their last success five years ago with two direct wildcard losses, this feels more like normal business.
