Pittsburgh Pirates Commerce Pitcher Joe Musgrove to San Diego Padres – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Pirates have reportedly reached an agreement to sell pitcher Joe Musgrove to the San Diego Padres.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported Monday that the Padres are acting against the right-handed pitcher. Passan reports that the trade is still pending and the pirates will receive a “large package from prospects”.

The San Diego Padres agree on a deal to take over right-hander Joe Musgrove from the Pittsburgh Pirates, the sources told ESPN.

The Musgrove trade is still pending, according to sources, and will send a large package of prospects back to the pirates. A well-respected midfielder, Hudson Head is expected to be part of the group heading to Pittsburgh.

MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo reports that the Pirates will get the best prospects for Hudson Head and Omar Cruz, among others.

Musgrove, 28, has spent the past three seasons with the Pirates. He had an 18-26 record with the Pirates and started 58 games.

The native Californian was traded to Pittsburgh by the Houston Astros as part of the Gerrit Cole trade in 2018.
