Pittsburgh Public College college students are returning to the classroom for the primary time in a yr – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – For the first time since last year, all students who wish to return to the Pittsburgh Public Schools classroom can do so.

More than 13,000 children are expected to return to the school buildings on Monday.

Around 8,000 students have now decided to continue distance learning.

The district is also struggling with a shortage of bus drivers and around 640 students will be without a ride to school.

“Students who fall into that gap and cannot be lifted were notified by a robocall last week, and students who do have a lift would have received a mailer in the mail,” said Megan Patton, transportation director for Pittsburgh Public Schools.

According to the district, they will receive three additional buses from the Pittsburgh Transportation Group later this month.

They also turn to local colleges and universities for help with transportation.
