Port Authority publishes high 10 challenge priorities for the following decade – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The port authority has some major projects in mind. As part of its NEXTransit program, the ten most important project priorities for the next decade have been published.

Top priority is a new east-central Pittsburgh link between the Strip, Hill, Oakland, Hazelwood and the South Hills.

This is followed by a transit center in the city center and a best-use study for the T.

Other top projects include improving transit between Homestead and McKeesport and investigating a revitalization of the T between Allentown and downtown and then onto the Strip.

Attempts are also being made to prioritize transit upgrades to Monroeville on McKnight Road and Allegheny Valley.

Extensions to the East Busway are on the list as well as a faster transit in the airport corridor.
