Memorial to George Floyd, others in Westinghouse Park in Pittsburgh – WPXI

PITTSBURGH – A justice rally was held in Westinghouse Park in Pittsburgh’s Point Breeze neighborhood on Tuesday.

Participants gathered to remember George Floyd, as well as others who died as a result of police misconduct, a year after his death.

Organizers said they wanted to press for police reform and accountability while drawing attention to the deaths of Jerome Smith and Michelle Rankin, who died in a 2006 crash during a police chase in the Homewood section of Pittsburgh.

“It is very important that those who have openly disregarded human life are held accountable. It is imperative that they be held accountable, ”said organizer Ikhana-Hal-Makina.

Also on Tuesday, UPMC employees gathered outside hospitals in the Pittsburgh area to celebrate the anniversary of George Floyd’s death.
