Rita’s Italian ice cream will not be gifting away free goodies anymore on the primary day of spring … once more
Rita’s Italian ice cream usually celebrates the first day of spring with free frozen goodies.
But for the second year in a row, the coronavirus pandemic has frozen those plans.
“As covid-19 is still part of the community, we decided to cancel the free Italian ice day on (March 20th) to ensure everyone’s safety,” the company wrote. “Don’t worry, we’re still open to business and look forward to celebrating with you soon.”
For the past several years, the frozen dessert chain has been selling seven ounce cups to customers.
Rita has 17 locations in western Pennsylvania: Belle Vernon, Bethel Park, Shannon Castle, Cranberry, McMurray, McKees Rocks, Oakland, Penn Hills, Pittsburgh, Pleasant Hills, Scott, Squirrel Hill, Washington, Wexford, White Oak, and Kennywood and Sandburg .
