Sizzling Pockets recalled for attainable glass and plastic contamination – CBS Pittsburgh

(CNN) – Those hot pockets in your freezer could contain something more dangerous than hot cheese.

Nestlé Prepared Foods is recalling certain hot peppers hot pockets because they fear they have been contaminated with pieces of glass and hard plastic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said on Friday.

The class I recall applies to 12 packs of Peperoni Hot Pockets with a best before date of February 2022 and lot codes 0318544624, 0319544614, 0320544614 and 0321544614. The company number “EST. 7721A “appears within the USDA certification mark on the packaging.

A Class I recall implies a “hazardous health situation where there is a reasonable likelihood that use of the product will cause serious, adverse health effects or death,” according to the USDA website.

Approximately 762,615 pounds of the recalled Hot Pockets have been shipped to stores across the country.

According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service, there are four consumer complaints about foreign matter in hot pockets.

One of the complaints includes a report of a minor oral injury, officials said.

Consumers who purchased the recalled product should throw it away or return it to the place of purchase, according to the Food Safety and Inspection Service.
