The Pennsylvania Resort, the place “The Bachelor” was filmed, makes for a fascinating winter trip

Your vacation doesn’t have to be as dramatic as it was this season of “The Bachelor,” but it can be just as fun.

The Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, where Matt James’ season of the ABC Reality Dating Show, filmed last fall, has a lot going for it.

James and the nearly 30 women vying for love had to follow strict COVID-19 guidelines while filming – and the resort expects the same for all new visitors.

Located 70 miles from Pittsburgh, the 2,000 acre sanctuary has 320 bedrooms and several buildings of their own style.

The castle is the massive castle-like building that was shown on the first night James first met each woman.

Falling Rock puts a more enchanting accent as it features a pool, hot tubs, winding walkways, personal butler service, and luxurious Art Deco interiors that will make you feel regal.

There are also The Homes and The Estates on the property which are for those who wish to enjoy the seclusion of having their own spacious residence and private chef if they so choose.

According to the resort, The Lodge, another part of the luxury resort, is slated to reopen in spring 2022.

The resort currently offers the following seasonal amenities with a strict COVID-19 policy:

  • A 1000-piece collection of fine arts;
  • Private outdoor sculpture tours with scenic views of the estate;
  • Cross-country skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing on the 25 acre Mystic Mountain;
  • Paintball;
  • Herbal tea and essential oils workshops;
  • Dog sledding;
  • Partner yoga and spa experiences;
  • Indoor ax throw;
  • Outdoor ice skating;
  • To the zoo;
  • A socially distant “Bachelor” watch party.

Remember, to experience these amenities and dine in the restaurants, you must book a room at the resort.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, security measures have been taken. So keep in mind that these excursions may need to be restricted, canceled, or quickly tested on site.

The CDC’s Travel Policy, updated as of December 2, 2020, suggests that staying at home is the best way to protect yourself and others from the possible spread and / or contagion of the coronavirus.

If you’re not feeling comfortable right now, the resort is sure to have amenities that are suitable for warmer weather.
