The Pittsburgh Steelers started long-shots this year to win the Super Bowl, and things didn’t get any better ahead of their week 8 game against Browns.
Most NFL analysts didn’t give the Steelers a great chance of winning the Super Bowl this past off-season, and many predicted they would finish third in the AFC North for the 2021 season. It turned out that they weren’t too far away.
Not only were Pittsburgh disappointing earlier this year, they are now fourth in their league. The Steelers could fall 1.5 games behind third and possibly 3.5 games behind first-placed Bengals with a loss to the Browns this week – provided they take care of the New York Jets business.
After three defeats at the beginning of the season, Mike Tomlin’s team have won the last two competitions and leveled their record 3: 3. How are the Steelers doing on Super Bowl odds after their week 7 reunion? Unfortunately not so good.
According to WynnBET, the Pittsburgh Steelers currently have odds of +10000 to win the Super Bowl. This puts them in 18th place in the NFL with the New England Patriots, behind teams like the San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings.
What Steelers Must Do To Get Super Bowl Odds Up
A win against the Cleveland Browns this week could help crap Super Bowl odds a little more in their favor, but it won’t move the needle much. However, a decisive victory should help.
Still, I don’t see their chances change that much in the next three weeks. Even if Pittsburgh wins in Cleveland this week, the odds makers won’t read too much into their upcoming home games against the Lions and Bears – two pretty bad football teams. It will show what they will do in the second half of the season.
Pittsburgh has a gruesome schedule that includes games against teams like the Chargers, Bengals, Vikings, Titans, Chiefs and two games against the Ravens. With the way this offense has been played (only 19.5 points per game in the last 12 competitions since last year), odds makers are likely pretty confident that this team won’t even make the playoffs – let alone a run at a Super Bowl.

We’ve seen over the past few years that things can change at any time in the NFL, and the Steelers have been underdogs before. This season seems different, however, and it will be hard to trust Ben Roethlisberger and this offense to get things going so well that we believe they can be a Super Bowl team this year.
