PLUM BOROUGH (KDKA) – The plum sports department has decided to adhere to the universal mask protocol for athletes during training and competitions.
Protocol also requires that opponents who visit Plum also wear masks, and any opponent who refuses to wear masks cannot compete against this school.
Plum’s decision came after a winter sports survey and the results were mixed. Some schools don’t require masks at all, others plan to wear masks during the competition, but their opponents don’t need to wear masks, and others make the decision that Plum makes – all athletes must wear masks.
The WPIAL and its members use the UPMC Sports Medicine Declaration and the American Academy of Pediatrics as guidelines for wearing masks in competitions.
