Wendy’s is testing a new plant-based sandwich but you will have to go to Pittsburgh to get it.
The Spicy Black Bean Burger will be added to the Made to Crave premium sandwich line beginning on June 28 in Columbus, Ohio, Jacksonville, Fla., and the Steel City – only while supplies last.
“Consumers are demanding plant-based sandwiches, and we’re answering the call in a way that only Wendy’s can with a mouthwatering sandwich packed with multiple layers of heat and flavor,” said Carl Loredo, U.S. chief marketing officer for The Wendy’s Company.
Wendy’ said the black bean patty is “crafted with a blend of spices, layered with crunchy chipotle jalapenos for added texture, creamy, expertly melted pepper jack cheese and a spicy chipotle sauce.” The sandwich also includes tomatoes, sweet onion slices and romaine lettuce on a warm, toasted bun.
The sandwich costs $5.79.
