Beer and dinner at Independent Brewing Company
The Independent Brewing Company is an integral part of the Pittsburgh drinking scene and arguably one of the best beer bars in town. It is known for offering a wide variety of beers from the area’s craft breweries and places great emphasis on fresh Pittsburgh beers.
And now the Squirrel Hill Bar makes its own beer and has grown into a brewery called the Golden Age Beer Company. According to an email to her followers, the new Homestead brewery is on the site that was previously occupied by Enix Brewing. According to the email, the Golden Age Beer Company is about to reopen in this area.
“The Golden Age is in Homestead, a community whose resilience and rebirth we have admired for years across the Monongahela River, and a community that we hope to join and that we will hopefully join by creating jobs, opening an inclusive and inclusive community accessible space and maintaining it and repurposing a beautiful historic property, ”said the Independent Brewing Company’s email.
Golden Age will focus on brewing lager beers. Independent Brewing believes this is the future craft beer is going to, but also wants to focus on lager beer to honor Homestead’s brewing history. The email mentions how the brewers showed solidarity with the striking workers in the Battle of Homestead in 1892.
“We want to bring a brewery that makes lager their primary focus to Pittsburgh and especially Homestead,” the email said. “Indeed, we believe that it would be unfair to the hard-working, steely heritage and determination of this community to do anything else.”
The new room will open shortly after the renovation work has been completed; beforehand, Golden Age welcomes beer lovers in the adjacent beer garden on a pop-up basis. Head Brewer Aaron Dahl, who joined the team in August, is overseeing the transition. Expect a range of crunchy lagers and also a pale ale or IPA on tap. The new Golden Age section also has a full liquor license and will have a full bar and wine list.
For those who want to try Golden Age’s beer before the Homestead location opens, Independent Brewing is serving the new brewery’s beers – in addition to their normal line-up of Roundabout, Old Thunder, Grist House, East End, Dancing Gnome , Cinderlands, Brew Gentlemen, and others.
On Thursday November 4th, Independent Brewing will also be offering Golden Age’s first beer, Golden Age Pale Ale, for tasting. The tap is intended to serve as a “thank you” for those who support the beer bar during the pandemic.
More details will be announced on Golden Age Brewing’s social media this week.
