Liquor Management Regulation Enforcement Arrested After Attacking Savoy in Pittsburgh’s Strip District
A popular restaurant in the Strip district of Pittsburgh was attacked for the second time on Friday night. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 was where a liquor law enforcement agency carried out a box of alcohol along Pen Avenue. According to a Pennsylvania police news release, the Liquor Control Law Enforcement Authority (BLCE) has received numerous complaints claiming that the bar operated without a valid liquor license. Police said a sting operation was conducted and allegations of illegal sales were confirmed. On Friday night, BLCE, Pittsburgh police, and state police officers obtained and served a search warrant and arrest warrant in Savoy. Police said Charles Sanders was arrested and taken to Allegheny County Prison for a search warrant. Seized about 12.2 gallons of malt, brewed beverages, and about 277 liters of liquor. In December 2020, following a “many complaints” that the business was operating without a valid liquor sales license. Hundreds of alcoholic beverages have been seized. The Allegheny County Health Department closed Savoy at least twice last year due to a COVID-19 breach.
