PHH welcomes licensed surgeons to the medical employees life-style

DUBOIS – Penn Highlands Healthcare welcomes board certified surgeon Nii-Daako Darko, DO, to its medical staff.

Darko joins the Penn Highlands General Surgery Surgicalists team at 145 Hospital Ave., Suite 313 in DuBois.

Darko specializes in accident and acute operations and offers experienced care for critical needs and life-threatening circumstances. Common treatments and procedures include emergency heart care, emergency stroke care, emergency testing, abdominal emergency care, and trauma care.

Before joining Penn Highlands, Darko practiced at UPMC – Altoona. St. Mary’s Hospital (SSM Health) in Madison, Wisconsin .; St. Vincent Hospital (Prevea Health) in Green Bay, Wisconsin; Allegheny General Hospital (West Penn Health) in Pittsburgh; Community Medical Center (Geisinger) in Scranton; St. Marys Medical Center (Essentia Health) in Duluth, Minn .; and Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho.

Darko graduated from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Life Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed his degree in general surgery from the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia and his trauma / critical care scholarship from the Ryder Trauma Center at the University of Miami, in Miami, Florida. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Ghana Physicians and Surgeons Foundation, the American Osteopathic Association, and the National Medical Association.
